APW - Illinois, Grade 409, 21J, 12S, two-tone sterling silver and rose gold-filled original HC with superb engraving detail including a majestic stag to rear, both sides with fine background detail that creates a very appealing effect of texture and depth, white enamel SS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, broad striped pattern nickel damascene, s#2850181. Comes as pictured with a double-sunk enamel dial which we believe to be the original to this watch. An excellent example of this rare watch highlighted by a particularly magnificent case. Total production of the hunting case version of the Grade 409 is believed to be only 350 made per the excellent www.illinoiswatchguide.com website.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, winding mechanism with occasional disengagement while winding, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with very few scattered micro-fine scratches, few spots of oxide to winding wheels; dial with cluster of perimeter hls between 3 and 5, fine scratch within seconds-register, short scratch at 8, few scattered edge flakes and negligible nicks under bezel; fine hands with oxide, minute with bends near its mid-point; case shows virtually no wear, no dents or dings, superb crisp engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal. Additional dial with two patched edge chips near 11, scattered hls, negligible nick at center hole.
